Leanne Betasamosake Simpson won the 2025 Hilary Weston Writers' Trust Prize for Non-Fiction for her book, Theory of Water.
On November 13, 2025, The Writers' Trust of Canada announced Leanne Betasamosake Simpson as the 2025 winner of the Hilary Weston Writers' Trust Prize for Nonfiction for her book, Theory of Water. The $75,000 prize annually awards a Canadian author to recognize excellence in the category of literary non-fiction, which includes essays, history, biography, memoir, commentary, and criticism.
